Take extra care during the colder months

Protecting against the Elements
Whatever the weather it is important to keep your skin moisturised at all times to prevent the signs of premature ageing.

Our natural oil and shea butter-based products will provide the best barrier protection and nourishment possible for your skin and without the harsh stripping caused by skincare products high in chemical ingredients.

Winter

Choose lip balms with aromatherapy oils, such as our Peppermint and Grapefruit varieties. As the balm is applied so close to your nose area you’ll find that they lift your mood as well as making you truly kissable!

A soft touch
Make sure your hands are gentle and silky to the touch by including hand care as part of your daily routine. We recommend lavishing your hands in an olive oil based cream (which gives twice the moisturisation) and then popping them into cotton gloves over night to leave a silky, baby-soft feel to your skin.

We love the fact that after applying Lemon & Olive Oil hand cream when you go to wash your hands later you will feel like you’re rubbing the cream in all over again as the long-lasting moisture of our Lemon & Olive Oil cream feels as if it is being re-applied.
Try our new Lemon & Olive Hand Cream everyday and our special variety hand creams for Cooks and Gardener’s.

Nourish your precious skin year-round
It’s not just the sun which can damage your skin. Add the harsh effects of the winter elements to the drying effects of central heating and you can see why all the effort put into summer skincare can be lost in an instant over the colder months. We recommend using a Calendula and Aloe Vera moisturizer which are two key skincare ingredients:. See our Trade Secrets column for more information

Trade Secrets

This is where I’ll be explaining some of the fascinating facts about the ingredients we choose when creating our healing and mood-lifting skincare range:

Lemon used in our Lemon and Olive Oil Hand Cream

Lemons are an extremely versatile ingredient and they’re very rich in Vitamin C and many other valuable nutrients.

They’re widely used in natural beauty preparations and can be used as cleansers and toners, which are particularly good for oily skin. We’ve added Lemon into our new Lemon & Olive Oil Hand Cream because that is the starting point for a new range of Lemon & Olive Oil products. These include Creamy Lemon & Organic Nettle soap and Lemon and Chamomile Shampoo bar as well as the Olive Oil & lemon hand cream.

I love the fact that lemons can be used for so many skin and healing benefits, they are truly a natural health super-fruit. The clean aroma helps to uplift your spirit and calm nerves, whilst at the same time making you feel energetic and uplifted

Calendula used in our Soothing Facial Moisturiser

Calendula is a well-known garden plant and is probably one of the most useful of all herbs. It has valuable medicinal properties, yields a yellow colour and can be used as a culinary herb and for cosmetic purposes. It has been used in the Mediterranean region since the ancient Greeks, and it was known to Indian and Arabic cultures before the Greeks.

I love its skin soothing and restorative properties, which help soften and heal blemishes and marks. It’s also a great cleanser, general antiseptic and anti-inflammatory.

After washing my face with Extra Sensitive soap, with calendula petals, I apply Calendula and Aloe Vera Moisturiser I love this facial moisturiser because of its light texture and non greasy feel. It gives my skin a matte feel an ideal base for applying my makeup foundation.

Yvonne's basic face and neck cleansing recipe

This is a daily routine I’ve used for a long time and it has ensured that I never have dry skin:

Firstly, I wash my face with Olive Oil soap using a firm face cloth.

The reason I use Olive Oil soap is because Olive Oil is a humectant, meaning that a thin film of Olive Oil is left on my skin after washing – this isn’t greasy but it does work to protect me. It also prevents moisture escaping from my skin and best of all it draws moisture into the skin, all day long.

After washing I apply Calendula Face Cream. I will tell you all about this amazing product and ingredients and my special formula next month.

For my neck I use a little neck butter every single day. I rub it into the palm of my hand to soften it then I spread it from under my chin all across my chest area and in-between my breasts.

This routine works wonders because I use neck butter which is richer than any other moisturiser or night cream. It includes an abundance of Rosehip Oil and Shea Butter and many other good things that are all 100% natural.

Mini Factfile:
Before the menopause our neck area is kept in a naturally good condition by our hormones and also helped along with a good daily facial moisturiser. Post-menopause it all changes and many women find they start to suffer from what is known as a “Turkey Neck.”

Hand Care: one oil rich product, twice the moisturising protection

Choosing Olive Oil-based creams gives you literally twice the moisturisation. Because it’s so rich you need the smallest amount which once you’ve rubbed it into your hands and nails will penetrate and protect your skin.

Your hands will feel like silk and when you go to the bathroom and wash your hands you will be aware that you are rubbing the cream through into your hands all over again. Constant skin protection, which is exactly what I like to see!
